At the Summer Training of the School of T’ai Chuan in Malvern, Worcestershire in August, I gave my workshop Music into Silence, Sound for Relaxation and Health.

This workshop takes the participants into silence during musical experiences that include listening to Indian music and solo Bach on violin, singing Indian notes and raga, and Western vocalizations.  Throughout we  pay attention to our breathing and the effects of the music on it.   During the periods of silence between the music, breathing deepens, stress is reduced, and emotions and mind are calm.

Many participants reported that they enjoyed the workshop, and several said it was their favorite activity of the week.
